The Deep Blue Sea

Terence Rattigan, one of Britain’s premier playwrights, considered The Deep Blue Sea to be his best work. Set in 1952 post World War II London after the trauma of the Blitz, we find the tenants of 27 Weybridge Villas Ladbroke Grove coming to the rescue of Hester, a woman stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea.
A story of passion and the complexity of love, this powerful, moving play is testament to all of us, who feel too much, love too deeply and believe that suffering, no matter how intense does not exclude hope.

The Cast
Katie Rennuit as Hester Collyer
Katie is from London, England and joined the Ensemble this year after moving to Paris.
She is a writer/performer trained in the Meisner Technique with experience as a stage actor in both solo are large ensemble productions in the UK.
Josephine Demay as Hester Collyer
Joséphine is a professional pluridisciplinary (theatre, cinema, voice acting) bilingual actress. She was trained and has performed in both London and Paris. This is her first year with The Ensemble Company.
Stefano Sullo as Freddie Page
Stefano is an American-Italian actor trained at New York's Harlem School of the Arts. He currently attends the film school E.I.C.A.R. in Paris, majoring in directing. This is his first year joining the Acting Ensemble.
Coea Moore as Freddie Page
Coea is an American from Seattle currently living in Paris. This is his second year both acting and at The Ensemble. When not doing acting he likes to practice cooking and making music in his free time.
Oscar Ceville as William Collyer
Oscar is thrilled to return to The Acting Ensemble, where he previously portrayed Reverend Parris in The Crucible. With over 20 years of experience in theater, film, and television, he’s eager to continue honing his craft alongside Alexa and his fellow company members. He is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA.
Mertol Ozaltan as William Collyer
Mertol is a Turkish-Canadian working in international affairs in Paris. This is his first year with the Ensemble, with acting as one of his passions, he hopes to return in the fall.
Thomas Comerford as Philip Welch & Understudy Freddie Page
Tom trained at Playhouse Paris for two years before joining The Ensemble in January 2025. He's fully bilingual in English and French.
Baptiste Gendre as Philip Welch & Mr. Miller
Baptiste is a French-German trilingual actor with a background in engineering. Over the past three years, he has trained in various acting techniques, balancing creative freedom with industry insight. This is his fist year with the Ensemble.
Denitza Zafirova as Miss Miller
Denitza Zafirova is an actress and installation artist. Her previous credits include Dora Maar in MUSE at Tristan Bates, London (Offie nominated) and as voiceover in Solastalgia, Cannes XR. She initially trained at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, NYC and is thrilled to be returning to the Ensemble for a second year.
Ivy Hsu as Miss Miller
Ivy originates from Taiwan. She’s an actress model and
designer. She has been with the Ensemble Company for five years
and is an honored member.
Patricia Deery as Mrs. Elton
Trish is happy to have returned for her second year with the Acting Ensemble. The collaborative and supportive atmosphere of this dynamic acting community makes the creative process fun and inspiring. She's already looking forward to year three!
Ayesha Small as Mrs. Elton
Ayesha originates from Canada. She has been
studying with the Ensemble Company for 4 years and is pleased to be a part of this production.
Anna Hermkens as Ann Welch
Anna is Hungarian-Dutch, in her 3rd year with the Acting Ensemble, currently playing Ann Welch in The Deep Blue Sea. She is also graduating in Fashion Management at the Institut Français de la Mode this year. She plans to pursue acting after her studies, and keep engaging in the creative industries as a producer and photographer.
Marthe Grootendorst as Ann Welch
Marthe was born in the Netherlands. She is a second year student with the Acting Ensemble. In the 2024 production of "The Crucible," she played the role of Mary Warren.
Raluca Nechita as Jackie Jackson
Originally from Romania, Raluca has been calling Paris her home for the past 11 years. She has performed both on stage and in front of the camera in English, Romanian and French. She is part of two theater troupes and has been delighted to discover working with the Acting Ensemble this year!
